This Marks The Second Such Incident Within a Week On Smithsonian Grounds

On Wednesday afternoon, tourists visiting the National Museum of African American History and Culture found a noose in an exhibition on segregation. Park police came to investigate and removed the noose, and the exhibit gallery was reopened within three hours, Smithsonian officials said.
"The noose has long represented a deplorable act of cowardice and depravity—a symbol of extreme violence for African Americans. Today's incident is a painful reminder of the challenges that African Americans continue to face," wrote Lonnie Bunch, the director of the museum, in an e-mail to staff.
The disturbing incident comes only four days after a noose was found hanging from a tree outside the Hirshhorn Museum. The investigation into the noose found at NMAAHC is ongoing, but the public and staff have been assured that the museum is safe.
“The Smithsonian family stands together in condemning this act of hatred and intolerance, especially repugnant in a museum that affirms and celebrates the American values of inclusion and diversity,” wrote the secretary of the Smithsonian Institution David Skorton in an Institution-wide email. “We will not be intimated. Cowardly acts like these will not, for one moment, prevent us from the vital work we do.”
These ominous reminders of America’s dark history with lynching have appeared around the country, from a school in Missouri to a series of four nooses hung around a construction site in Maryland. Other nooses have been found on the Duke University campus, the Port of Oakland in California, a fraternity house at the University of Maryland, a middle school in Maryland, and at a high school in Lakewood, California.
All of them seem to be part of a larger wave of violence, intimidation and hate crimes. According to the Southern Poverty Law Center, more than 1,300 hate incidents were reported between the 2016 election and February 2017. Of those 1,300, anti-immigrant incidents have been the most prevalent, followed by anti-black.
“We haven’t seen such mainstream support for hate in decades, not since the Civil Rights era 50 years ago,” said SPLC spokesperson Ryan Lenz. “We’re witnessing a moment when there are tremendous challenges to the country that we built on pluralism and democracy. The civil rights accorded every American are firmly under threat.”
Bunch closed his email with the assurance that, "We will continue to help breach the chasm of race that has divided this nation since its inception."

NOTE: But all this noose business is just some fun and games by patriotic, true red, white and blue Americans exercising their right of Free Speech.  Oh, wait a minute.  Apparently Kathy Griffin isn't covered by the First Amendment.  Hmmmmm...... Ian't that odd.

Of course it's not Trump's fault. No, no, no.  It's Obama's fault just like his firing of FBI Director, James Comey, was Obama's fault.  Or the wiretapping of his phones was Obama's fault.  Or the Trump Deathcare Act was Obama's fault.  Just like.......

Forget it.  Somehow or other, I guarantee that Sean Spicer will come up with some reason that two nooses found in the African American Museum and outside the Hirshhorn Museum are the result of the continuing mad influence of Barack Obama's "Darkie Deep State" lodged securely and secretly in the basement of some Federal Building somewhere in the nation's capital.  The  basement of the J. Edgar Hoover Building, the headquarters of the FBI, maybe?  Seems like a likely basement to me since Trump's troubles seem to have fairly direct connections with this ugly monstrosity of an edifice shitting on the urban fabric of our wonderful city.

PS:  I know we are all waiting with baited breath to hear James Comey's testimony next week before the Senate Intelligence Committee.  I'm not surprised that he has insisted to speak, not behind closed doors, but in pubic which, to me, sounds as if he wants to re-burnish his somewhat damaged reputation.  I can't wait!  But there's a wrinkle.  The Trump Administration might claim that Comey's testimony should be barred by Executive Privilege, i.e., his discussions with Trump fall under the rubric of protected acts based on the separation of powers.   Problem is though, Big Mouthed Trump has publicly "discussed" the very same discussions on national television and in Twitter tweets so he has effectively canned the whole Executive Privilege defense since those discussions are now a matter of public record.  Of course, as Trump has repeatedly announced, he can say, do and tweet whatever the hell he wants any time he wants and to anyone he wants because he's President.  LOL!

Trump just can't keep his mouth shut can he?  The latest decision from a Federal Appeals Court that found the Muslim Travel Ban unconstitutional, was based on Trump's own mewlings in public about keeping all those radical Muslim jihadist terrorists from entering the United States.  Here's what Judge Gregory wrote in the Court's decision:

“Then-candidate Trump’s campaign statements reveal that on numerous occasions, he expressed anti-Muslim sentiment, as well as his intent, if elected, to ban Muslims from the United States.”

It just does not get any better than this.  Trump is actually working feverishly to get himself impeached!!!

Have a Great Day Everyone!
