AMERICAN EXCEPTIONALISM AS THE WORLD'S BIGGEST BULLY
Young Men In Devastated Countries Used To Dream Of America. Not Anymore.
NOTE: I am reminded of my Peace Corps days in West Africa back in the 1970's. It was a time when Americans were welcomed just about everywhere on the planet, America was the bright shining beacon of freedom, democracy and hope for the world and other nations looked to us to do the right thing whether we were talking about famine relief efforts, Food for Peace, health care initiatives, etc. America was admired and respected. Fast forward a couple of decades and my travels to over 30 countries has revealed a remarkably different view of America in many places in the world. We are now seen as the world's biggest bully only out to selfishly serve our own interests and not the interests of anyone else.
