THE COMEY LETTER
SO WHAT EXACTLY DOES FBI DIRECTOR COMEY'S LETTER SAY? HERE IT IS!
In reality, it doesn't say much. Just says that there is an un-named, unrelated, ongoing investigation where e-mails were discovered that might be pertinent to the Clinton Server case. (Presumably, since it's unclear.) Mr. Comey tells the House Committee members that he cannot yet assess whether or not the e-mails (presumably) are "significant" nor how long it will take to determine whether or not this new material is either pertinent or significant.
It has come to light since Friday, that the investigation involves former N.Y. Congressman Anthony Weiner's alleged sexting to an underaged female, that the device is a laptop that both Weiner's (wife and Hillary aide Huma Abedin) shared, that the FBI hasn't actually seen any of the e-mails (they do not yet have warrants), and that the Department of Justice warned Comey about his letter since it violates DOJ policy about releasing anything later than 60 days before and election that might affect the outcome of that election.
FBI Director, James Comey, had a choice and let's assume, for some obscure yet ethical reason, that not sending the letter to Congress that pretty much lacks anything in the way of real information wasn't in the offing. So here are the two choices facing FBI Director James Comey:
1. Send the letter to Congress now (last Friday) and be criticized by the left and Democrats
2. Send the latter after November 8th and be criticized by the right and Republicans.
Sure maybe not the best of choices given that no matter which he chose, he was going to be in for a hot round to vociferous criticism just like that which he's been subjected to by the right wing and Republicans since his July 5th exoneration of Hillary Clinton.
So, given these two equally unpleasant choices for him personally, which one did he chose?
OPTION 1: THE ONE WHICH HAS THE POTENTIAL FOR IMPACTING THE 2016 PRESIDENTIAL ELECTION!!!!!
Which he did, by the way, after the Department of Justice advised him not to since it violated longstanding DOJ and FBI policy in dealing with such matters. So from my point of view there is no need to even attempt to fathom Comey's motives: Was he pressured by Republicans? Was his budget being threatened? Was he trying to make up for clearing Hillary Clinton? Was he trying to save face?
Who cares? The bald fact of the matter is that FBI Director, James Comey, made a severe error in judgment - for whatever reason(s) - and should be held accountable. That he sent this barren of facts and information letter to Congress just 11 days before the Presidential Election is in and of itself sufficient reason that the man be relieved of his position.
End of Story.
PS: Dont forget that the right wing brain deadheads, have accused Huma Abedin (she's a Muslim) of sedition, spying and trying to overthrow the U.S. government.
Here's the letter Comey sent to his staff "explaining" his actions.
James B. Comey
Here's Hillary Clinton's response to Comey's letter:
Take Care Folks! It Might Get Rougher Before We're Relieved Of This Torture Called Our Presidential Election!!
