MICHAEL MOORE’S LIGHTHEARTED BUT DEADLY SKEWERING OF AMERICAN EXCEPTIONALLISM
EXCEPT THAT ALL THOSE SOCIALIST EUROPEAN NATIONS STOLE THEIR IDEAS FROM US!
THE OFFICIAL "WHERE TO INVADE NEXT" TRAILER:
It was freezing last night, about 21F or -6C, when we set out for our favorite Landmark E Street Cinema to catch Michael Moore’s “Where To Invade Next.” Unlike most of his previous films, “Fahrenheit 9/11,” “Bowling for Columbine,” and “Sicko” that were extremely pointed jabs at how America goes about its business, this one skewers American hubris with humor, good taste and a gentle lightheartedness that is truly sublime. (Why this movies has an “R” rating escapes me.) But in the end, “Where To Invade Next” simply demonstrates how ignorant American are about life in those evil socialist nations like France (gourmet elementary school lunches), Finland (prison “cells” with private baths and showers), Italy (lots of sex makes for happy, high paid factory workers), Finland (school kids don’t get homework), Germany (college education is free), Portugal (using coke, heroin, pot is no longer a crime), and the hilarious but revealing examples go on.
And all those homework free, gourmet lunch, tuition free, paid honeymoon, private prison baths citizens of Europe are not only happy and satisfied, they get to enjoy their lives.
I think this is by far Michael’s finest movie. Now Rush Limbaugh calls Michael Moore a “Radical Communist” (whatever that may mean) but for the rest of us I think this is a film that every single American should see regardless of political leanings. It’s enlightening, revealing, funny and let’s us know just how far behind we Americans are in living life without fear, worry, stress and enjoying ourselves.
Please go see it!
