13 HOURS: THE SECRET SOLDIERS OF BENGHAZI
REPUBLICANS JUST CAN'T TAKE "NO" FOR AN ANSWER AS IN "NO! THERE'S WAS NO STAND DOWN ORDER."
FILMING 13 HOURS
I have not yet seen the movie “13 Hours: The Secret Soldiers of Benghazi” and I’m debating whether I will or not. I’m kinda Benghazi’d out right now what with the five Congressional hearings, the multiple official reports, the continuing media coverage of the deaths of 4 Americans, etc. etc. But I have read a number of articles about the film since its release, seen any number of television news reports about it and just last Friday saw John Krasinski, who plays Navy Seal Jack Silva, on Bill Maher’s “Politically Incorrect” show, the last bastion of liberalism left in the entire wasteland we call the media. Michael Bay, the film's director, has stated numerous times that the movie isn't political and that his purpose in doing "13 Hours" was to tell the story of the Navy Seals who risked their lives in the rescue attempt.
As of now, everything (I was going to write “virtually everything” but a quick review of my near term memory bank and I reconsidered) I’ve seen or read about the movie has basically said that the movie doesn’t even mention Hillary, it’s not about Hillary, there was no stand-down order from Hillary nor did Hillary transport herself that night down to the American consulate and personally shoot the four Americans. (I added this last one since I have seen Breitbart reference the murder of Vince Foster this political season after more than twenty years so I wanted to cover that aspect too.)
John Krasinski of television’s “The Office” series and actor Emily Blunt’s hunky hubby, plays one of the Navy Seals in “13 Hours” and on “Politically Incorrect” waxed affectionate and admiring about the real life man he portrayed and the other Navy Seals he met during filming. Krasinski stated that he comes from a family of military participants and is sympathetic to all the issues and problems our military men and women face. So it might be a tad surprising that he flat out stated that the movie has nothing to say about Hillary Clinton and, he stated, she isn’t even mentioned.
Then, too, the old “The Stand Down Order” that right wingers have claimed for years came directly from the Obama White House as he and his staff were watching the slaughter of the four Americans in Banghazi on real time television while playing "Mortal Kombat" on their I-Pads and/or that Hillary issued the order from her bedroom dressed in her footed fleece jammies via Twitter or Snapchat (there's some divergence as to the correct social media platform she employed) simply didn’t happen. That’s right. The real life Navy Seals (as well as the movie "13 Hours") acknowledge that the CIA Station Chief, "Bob," told the six men to wait until there was more information about what was happening at the Consulate, so as not to leave the 25 people at the CIA station house at risk. Even he admits to this but states that it wasn't a "stand down" order. (You can read an interview with him here: Benghazi CIA Station Chief ) The six Navy Seals, however, did not wait.
In any event, it would seem that the whole "stand down order" controversy is finished, over, dead, kaput. Well, if you think so then you don't know Washington, D.C. like I do. Saw a small piece in this morning's WashPo about a private Republican Screening of "13 Hours" last Friday. (Private Republican Screening) There is an Atlantic article about the D.C. screening as well. (Private Screening)
TOM COTTON (R-AK)
Here's what Freedom Caucus and Tea Bag Sucker Tom Cotton (R-AK) had to say after Friday night's screening:
"It highlights the utter negligence of Hillary Clinton's State Department leading up to the attacks.
And here's a quote from America's favorite car dealer insure-n-burn Congressional Representative from the great state of California, Chief Benghazi/IRS Time and Money Waster, Darrell Edward Issa (R-CA):
DARRELL ISSA (R-CA)
"What it does is it allows people to get a proper visualization of what really happened, the hopelessness of America not responding. (Really Darrell? This is what you got from the movie?) If Hillary becomes President, this mar will still be there. If Hillary isn't president, the next president will have to fix some entrenched failure that caused this to happen."
Right. Thank you true American patriots and defenders of all the is making America great again.
Again, there seems to be no end to the Benghazi crisis, at least for those die-hard Hillary/Obama hatin' die hard Republicans who simply can't take "NO" - as in "there was NO stand down order" - for an answer.
But here's the question that comes to my - admittedly warped - mind regarding Representatives Cotton and Issa:
WHERE WERE THEIR MOTHERS WHILE THEY WERE GROWING UP?
Have a nice day. It's 11:00 AM and the Temp here in D.C. is 21F or -6C so I'm staying inside today!
