SO AMERICA’S MUSLIMS DON’T LIVE UNDER THE SAME CONSTITUTION AS KIM DAVIS AND THE REST OF US?
APPARENTLY RELIGIOUS FREEDOM APPLIES ONLY TO AMERICA’S CHRISTIANS AND JEWS
Muslim Flight Attendant Is Suspended, May Be Fired for Refusing to Serve Alcohol

Charee Stanley, a Muslim flight attendant who refused to serve alcohol during an ExpressJet flight, is now fighting to get her job back.
Two years ago, Stanley converted to Islam, a religion that forbids believers to drink or serve alcohol. In June, she worked out an agreement with her employer that allowed her to do something else while alcohol was served by her fellow flight attendants, and everything seemed to be fine. However, according to the Huffington Post, despite that agreement, one of Stanley’s co-workers filed a complaint against her for being “delinquent in her duties” for not serving liquor in August.
That same month, she was placed on unpaid leave for one year and threatened with termination as well as informed that their you-don’t-have-to-serve-alcohol agreement was “revoked.”
Lena Masri of the Council on American-Islamic Relations’ Michigan chapter, Stanley’s lawyer, says her client is open to mediation but if a resolution isn’t reached, they are not afraid to sue ExpressJet.
ExpressJet gave this statement to the Huffington Post:
“We embrace and respect the values of all of our team members. We are an equal opportunity employer with a long history of diversity in our workforce.”
Despite the small similarities between Stanley’s case and that of crazy person Kim Davis who said Christianity barred her from doing her job of handing out marriage licenses, Masri says they’re incomparable.
“She got suspended for following the directions,” Masri said to HuffPost, adding that “serving alcohol is not a central duty of being a flight attendant.”
There are so many questions this brings to the fore: Do Muslim citizens enjoy the same rights and privileges as the rest of us? Is it only the Christian Bible and not the Koran that is the sole guide for closely held religious beliefs and freedom of religion? Are converts to a religion less "authentic" then those of us born in the warm embrace of one? Could ExpressJet refuse to fly same sex married couples? African Americans? Raping Mexicans? Does Donald Trump have a constitutional right to allow his hair to block his vision while driving? (Oh. Wait. I guess The Donald doesn’t drive himself and one would assume that his private jet pilot isn’t a female with long hair.)
In the end, the “Pandora’s Box” of potential religious legal conflicts Ruth Bader Ginsburg so eloquently laid out in her Hobby Lobby dissent has been opened and Pandora’s kamikaze butterflies are roaming unrestrained across this Constitutional Republic we call the United States of America. This is what the anti-feminist "It's The Women Not The Men" blog thinks of Ginsburg:
We could, of course, just rename America. Something like “The United Sates of Judeo-Christian Fundamentalist America” might solve the problem.
Have a good fundamentalist day!
