IN PHOENIX, ANTI-MUSLIM PROTESTERS AND DEFENDERS OF ISLAM FACE OFF

The Washington Post
May 29, 2015

“PHOENIX: Almost 250 mostly armed anti-Muslim demonstrators – many wearing T-shits bearing a profanity-laced message denouncing Islam ["Fuck Islam"] – faced off against a crowd of roughly the same size defending the faith in front of a Phoenix Mosque Friday night.”
Reading the first sentence of this article, I couldn’t get past the “mostly armed” phrase.“Mostly Armed?”Why?Why Armed? Why in a “peaceful protest” does one need to arm oneself?I think it’s a timely question because it does seem as if there are more occurances around the country of armed confrontations between groups with differeing views and confrontations between citizens and the authorities.

I sat there thinking about Jon Ritzheimer and his motivation for asking in a call to his followers that they bring arms to what was ostensibly a "peaceful protest.Okay.Let’s say that this call to arms is legitimate. But t…

16 Antigay Leaders Exposed as Gay or Bi
Pastor Matthew Makela is the latest prominent antigay leader to get caught trolling for guys, but there were many like him who also fell face first out of the closet.
From The Advocate May 29, 2015 Not every antigay crackpot is actually gay, but there's no shortage of those who actually are. Here are some hypocrites who just couldn't practice what they preached.
George Rekers
This antigay activist and cofounder of the Family Research Council shocked the world in 2010 when he was caught returning from a European vacation with a male escort he found on Rentboy.com. He initially claimed he hired the man to carry his luggage because he had just had surgery and wasn’t able to lift anything. Rekers also tried to explain himself with a Facebook post: “I deliberately spend time with sinners with the loving goal to try to help them.”

JUST TO GIVE YOU A GLIMPSE OF WHAT THE TEA PARTY CONSIDERS THE TRUTH

Topics Gleaned From a Visit to the Tea Party’s Web Site Earlier Today. All Are Titles of Articles Appearing on the Tea Party's First Page

Limbaugh, “American Left Has Made Christianity It’s No. 1 Enemy” (Nothing to say here. This is one of Rush’s daily themes.) Concealed Gun Carry Guide (That the Tea Party’s web site would publish a “Concealed Gun Carry Guide” pretty much says it all.)
Baltimore Prosecutor Mosyb [sic] on Cops: “Thugs” (This is a repost from conservative Web Site WND: “On May 6, Mosby favorited a tweet by 3ChicsPolitico calling the charged officers “thugs.”” Note that it was not Mosby’s tweet. The Tea Party could at least spell her name correctly.)
Obama Administration Asserts Dominion Over Creeks, Stream, Ditches – Even Big Puddles (Well nothing to say here.Anything the EPA does is anti-American and a violation of guaranteed Constitutional rights according to the Tea Party.)

THE TEA PARTY: PATRIOTS OR ANARCHISTS?

“The party of white people”: How the Tea Party took over the GOP, armed with all the wrong lessons from history

The Founders were a divided bunch. They believed in debate but also in solving problems. Someone tell the Tea Party DAVID SEHAT

Excerpted from "The Jefferson Rule: How the Founding Fathers Became Infallible and Our Politics Inflexible"
There was an emerging disagreement among conservatives, one that grew out of differing dispositions, if not principle. The Tea Party movement possessed an almost centrifugal force in which ideas gravitated from the center to the margins. On the anti-intellectual fringe, the narrative about the Founders was taken up by absolutists and paranoids who supported citizen militias and the like. Yet even those not on the fringe supported the radical rhetoric. It was, in some sense, built into the movement. The logic of their argument—that conservatives were losing the country, that it had fatally departed from the Founders’ int…
